Seasonal Information

Football games begin the 1st week in September. The regular season runs until the last week of October. Post-season play takes place in the month of November and All-Star games are the first week of December.
Schedules are not passed out by the County until two (2) days prior to the beginning of the season.
Non-padded practice begins the last week of July, with full-padded practice starting the 1st week of August.

Skills and Conditioning Camp begin the 12th of July. (See below)

A family with multiple children participating receive a discount of 10 percent.
Flag Football (ages 5-7) - $85
Peewee (Mighty-Mite)
NOTE: Registration Fee for Mighty-Mites and Tackle is date-sensitive. Please see below the fee based on the month(s) that you register.
Tackle (Ages 6-16)
January - May = $95
June - July = $110
August - September = $125

Equipment and Uniforms

WE WILL BE SELLING OUR GAME JERSEYS this year (not included in registration) Game pants will be provided by the Club. Practice jerseys (optional) will be available for $10. Game Jerseys (optional) will be available for $40 with Name.
Equipment provided by the club consists of Helmet, chinstrap, one mouth piece, shoulder pads, girdle pads, thigh and knee pads. Girdles (recommended), athletic supporters, cups,practice pants and any additional equipment desired (Rib guards, glove etc.) will have to be purchased by the parents.

ALL EQUIPMENT AND UNIFORMS PROVIDED BY THE CLUB WILL BE RETURNED AT THE END OF THE SEASON. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN THE INABILITY TO REGISTER IN FUTURE SPORTS. REPLACEMNT COST IS $175. This does not include items purchased such as Jerseys and practice items these are yours to keep. It cost far more to equip our players than our registration cost. We must re-use equipment to keep our cost down.

Flag Football

Flag Football is a great way to introduce your child to the fundamentals of football. There are two age groups, 5-6 year old and 7 year old if registration numbers allow.

PeeWee Tackle Football ( Mighty-Mite)

PeeWee Football is available for players ages 6-7 not weighing more than 70lbs. The player must turn 6 years old by July 31 of the current year. For 7 year olds they must remain 7 until December 31 of the current year.

Tackle Football

Tackle Football is for players ages 7-16. The player age is based on how old they are on July 31 of the current year. Then it is broken down to an AGE and Weight Scale (click to see scale). Teams are broken in to the following weight groups 65lb., 75lb., 85lb., 95lb., 110lb., 125lb., 150lb., and Unlimited. The 65 and 75 weight levels have 2 levels, a Competitive level for experienced players and Developmental level for inexperienced players. Those teams will split into their levels no later than the end of the 2nd week of August.

Weigh-ins will be held approximately between the 2nd and 3rd week in August. Exact time and locations will be announced. All registration, yellow, white card, birth certificate, photo, and fees need to be submitted prior to weigh-in. There will be an additional weigh-in for late-comers and for those who were overweight on the 1st weigh-in. Times and locations TBA, also additional fee may be assessed.

If an athlete does not make the weight they may be eligible to play up at the next age/weight group if applicable.

Unlimited Tackle Football

WE HAVE A TEAM FOR ALL SIZES FORT WASHINGTON CANNON’S BIG’EM PROGRAM is a Middle School Football Program designed to prepare youth players for High School football. We welcome players of all sizes and experience levels and ensure that players play at their correct positions according to weight and skill levels. Our coaches take pride in giving your child hope and to never become deprived of anything they put their minds to. We offer two unlimited programs, Junior varsity teams for 11 and 12 year olds and varsity team for 13 and 14 year olds. The Big’em program will begin its second year of existence; our goal is to equip each kid, teach them the fundamentals of football that will bring out the confidence of each child.

Objective:When your child leaves our program, he would have learned the basic fundamentals of football, team work, preparation, hard work, confidence, respect and Life Skills as he enters High School.
Accomplishments:2009, PGCBGC COUNTY VARSITY CHAMPIONS!! Goal: To provide the skill set, by competing against other unlimited teams in the county and state, for your child to be recognized by the top High Schools in the Metropolitan Region.

Practice

Team practices without pads will begin the last week of July as well as equipment issue. Practice with pads will begin the 1st week of August. Practice days and time are to be determined by the head coach of each team. We practice at 4 locations Riverview Field, Potomac Landing, North Tantallion, and Fort Washington Forest the team assignment to each will determined at The Summer Football Camp.

Youth Skill and Conditioning Football Camp

A Summer Youth Football Skills and Conditioning Camp will be held prior to the start of the official football season starting on July 12th. Location: AutumnWood (North Tantallion), Autumnwood Lane, Fort Washington, MD 20744; Time: 6:15-8:15 PM Monday thru Friday until practice begins.
All players are encouraged to attend especially 1st year players. The cost will be $20 from all participants in order to offset the cost of camp shirts and end of camp cookout.

1st week of camp will consist with focus on Speed, Agility, Skills, and Conditioning (all Non Padded)
2nd week for those registered for our tackle season we will suit up in pads and work on Fundamentals in Blocking and Tackling plus Continue with Speed, Agility, Skills and Conditioning. Yes Contact. (Requirements please below***)
For those in flag and not registered for our tackle season the camp continues in the 2nd week with the same focus except without pads.
All players are encouraged to attend especially 1st year players.
At the end of camp we will celebrate the new season with our end of camp cook out.
The cost will be $30 or all participants in order to offset the cost of practice jerseys, end of camp cookout and county costs.
***Requirements to participate in contact portion of camp you must be Registered and Paid for our tackle season. Registration online at fwarc-bgc.org/register can be done anytime. We will begin equipment distribution for camp on July 6th registration and payments can be made also.
